Winemaker Mark Davidson has created Australia’s largest organic winery.  Producing over 100,000 cases seasonally.  Sustainable viticulture is the direction that Tamburlaine have always been heading towards …… and were Australia’s first carbon neutral winery.

A producer of juicy red wines and strong acidic whites. The addition of elevated vineyards creates a larger number of varieties and styles.The new vinyards located in the Orange Region New South Wales are elevated to over 800 metres and makes a massive 700 hectares total of planted vines. With an average yield of around 5 tonnes per acre. Oldest vines 57 year old.

From Greek origins the Caracatsanoudis family first planted vines in 1965, and have developed a very unique style of grand aromatics and full bodied complex wines.  The peak of their success is found in the malo / lactic buttery chardonnays that the brothers have been attempting to master for the last few decades.

Our long connection with Robinvale winery is steeped in memory of great tasting fruit quality.  Trying their complex blends such as the Cabernet 2006 ( Double Gold Sakura Japan ) or the Shiraz 2012 ( Silver Sakura Japan) is needed to understand the layers of mature fruit complexity.  This taste is how 30 years of bio dynamic viniculture can deliver success.

Involving earth, water, moon and sun the people at Bunn use natural inputs including farm made composting, dolomite, rock phosphates and limestone with other bio dynamic principals to create vitality in the vines and enhance soil biology.
In the vineyards you will find ducks and chickens roaming freely as a pest management and fertilizer system.  In autumn when harvest is over and leaves have dropped, cattle and sheep are able to graze adding their contribution to fertilization.

With Qantas airlines being a major customer for many of Lillypilly’s Botrytis dessert wines, Robert Fiumara is a very worthy holder of Hallidays 5 star Winery status for many many years. Their specialty Noble Harvest ( 95 points ) holds 18 Trophies and Gold awards and the Noble Sauvignon Blanc has 12 Trophies and Gold awards. Fiumara 7 Fortified received first place 2021 and 2022 at AWC Vienna, the worlds largest wine event.

It is believed the area of south Australia is an ancient land known to be stable for over 500 million years ( in comparison the Himalayas started to emerge 10 million years ago ). Therefore within the same soil structure exists a very diverse mixture of gravel, sand, clay, loam, silt, and solid rock.

The sea and vines of McLaren Vale are world renown for their famous reds as Shiraz is the dominant variety and responsible for international success…..but in a Mediterranean type climate it was the white wines that first caught my eye ( taste buds ). Down at Paxton winery their catch phrase says its like “ going back to the future ”……. as they integrate traditional hands on techniques they have used since the 1970’s with modern day technology.
